Qualia runs each interview as a real back-and-forth. It asks your questions, listens, and probes when something is unclear or worth following up.

Voice and text

Respondents type or talk. Voice is transcribed automatically.

Multilingual

Qualia adapts to whatever language the respondent uses. Write your interview in English and still hear back from people in their own language. See Qualia the multi-linguist.

Respondent confirmation summary

Ask Qualia to summarise each interview for the respondent to check and confirm — more accurate and collaborative.

Consent and anonymity

Built-in consent screen with your description. Toggle anonymity messaging when you want respondents warned not to share identifying details.

Tell the Advisor what you want to find out; it drafts and improves your instructions and can update fields in the app with one click.

Automatic Respondents

Simulate different personalities in the test panel before you go live — an AI interviewer talking to an AI respondent.

Interview sections

Split long interviews into sections with `%%%` markers. Respondents see a sectioned progress bar.

Background PDFs

Upload PDFs in interview settings so the AI interviewer has background context for that project.

Closed questions

Embed closed questions in batch mode using `[[...]]` tokens — useful for scales and multiple-choice blocks.

Safeguarding flags

Qualia can flag safeguarding concerns in responses (e.g. with `!!!!!`). Add your own safeguarding instructions in the interview text.

Share links and QR codes

Copy a link from the Share button or generate a QR code. No installation or scheduling — just open in the browser.

Keys

Add a personalised `&key=` to each invitation link so you can match responses to your own list — without Qualia storing names.

URL tags

Pass tags like `&country=France` on the link. The interviewer knows them from the start — useful for conditional instructions.

Post-interview redirect

Send respondents to your website or a follow-up survey when the interview ends.

Invite colleagues as editors on an interview. Owners pay credits; editors can design and test without taking over billing.
