Qualia and Causal Map at the Qualitative Research Symposium 2025

Gabriele Caldas · 4 February 2025

Causal Map participated in the Qualitative Research Symposium 2025 at the University of Bath. This year’s theme, Transparency, Openness and Rigour, aligns with our mission to enhance qualitative research through better tools.

Highlights:

  • Dr Madeleine Pownall’s keynote on redefining Open Science for qualitative research, challenging the imposition of quantitative standards on qualitative work.
  • Sessions on involving participants in analysis, with researchers sharing creative approaches to co-creating knowledge.
  • Discussions on the ethical challenges of data sharing in sensitive research contexts.

From our side, we gave a talk on Rigorous Workflows Using AI for Data Analysis, demonstrating how AI can enhance qualitative analysis while maintaining research integrity. We also delivered a workshop on AI-Driven Qualitative Interviewing, showcasing QualiaInterviews. Both sessions emphasised transparency and rigour in AI-assisted research.

QualiaInterviews Grant

We also announced the launch of the QualiaInterviews Grant. Researchers can submit proposals to win £100 in extra credits (on top of the £50 welcome pack) to conduct up to 150 interviews. Submit by 28 March to gabriele@causalmap.app. See the grant post for details.
